New York City has a way of making itself a supporting actor if not the protagonist in street photography. I am quite happy to give credit where credit is due. In my workshops and tours we often focus on this aspect.
Shadows lend a dramatic effect to a photo that might otherwise be rather plain. On a sunny day I always seek out the shadows and silhouettes. Whether you take a private photo tour or a street photography workshop, we always works with the available elements. You can find more information on both on my website.

The entire month of June is Pride Month in New York City and this year the city will be hosting International Pride. It is in connection with the 50 year anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riots. I understand that the hotels are nearly booked to capacity for it. But hey you can still book a private photo tour for yourself or your significant other. There’s so much to see, photograph and experience in this city!
There are streets in Chinatown that haven’t changed in many years. Sometimes it’s difficult to know what year they were taken. No signs of modern technology or cars. It is always a pleasure to be able to capture photos that are timeless. I have a street photography workshop on Sunday 17 February. Oh, the Lunar New Year Parade will be happening during the workshop.
Street photography is fun! It is fabulous to capture photos of interesting people on the streets of New York City. There are so many New Yorkers with their own particular style that reveals something of their personality. Whether you take a street photography workshop or private photo tour, we always keep our eyes open to unique people. This photo was taken during a recent street photography workshop in the East Village.
There are so many construction workers in NYC! It’s almost impossible to walk a block or two without signs of construction. Snapping photos of them at work is one of many things you can capture here. This photo was taken during a street photography workshop in Soho.
